Aims and Scope

The aim of Korean Journal of Soil Science and Fertilizer(KJSSF) is to enhance scientific knowledge in the field of soils, fertilizers, plant nutrients and agriculture environment etc. The journal covers all the scientific and technical aspects of soil science, plant physiology and nutrients, soil microbiology, environmental science. The journal (KJSSF) is published bimonthly on the last day of February, April, June, August, October, and December.

Manuscript Types

1) REVIEW PAPER–A review is not simply a collection of papers that are all centered on a common theme. Review papers should provide a synthesis of existing knowledge and give new insights or concepts not previously presented in the literature, or at least not with the same level of detail. The review should identify knowledge gaps for future research. An author should generally be allowed more freedom to pro- vide his/her view on a topic in a review as the papers being reviewed are presumed to already have passed some level of scientific scrutiny by peers. A good review is often one of the most important ways to advance an area of science. The review paper should be targeted to not more than 10 published pages.

2) ORIGINAL RESEARCH ARTICLE–Original research findings are interpreted to mean the outcome of scholarly inquiry, investigations, modeling, or experimentation having as an objective the revision of existing concepts, the development of new concepts, or the development of new or improved techniques in some phase of soil science. Authors are encouraged to test modeling results with measurements or published data. Articles published in KJSSF are expected to address important scientific questions in soil science and make a contribution to our understanding of the subject. Authors are encouraged to examine recent papers in KJSSF as a guide to evaluate whether their work is of the same high quality and scientific rigor.

3) SHORT COMMUNICATION–Short communication focus on studies of limited scope, unique observations, or research techniques and apparatus. The length of a short communication should be 2 to 3 published pages.

Manuscript preparation and Submission

Manuscripts can be submitted to the KJSSF Editor through webpage at http://www.ksssf.org. Only electronic submissions are accepted, the preferred format is a single MSWord file containing all text, tables, and figures. The following information must be provided for each manuscript submitted: corresponding author with email address and other contact information; complete listing of all authors and affiliations; manuscript title; and a listing of all individuals acknowledged in the manuscript. Please note that KJSSF uses a double-blind review, author listings and acknowledgements should be put in the appropriate field upon submission. Additionally, authors are strongly encouraged to specify an appropriate division for review. All manuscripts are subject to plagarize screenings upon submission.

Review Policy and Procedure

Contributors may recommend or exclude potential reviewers on the basis of their knowledge on the subject matter of the paper. Editorial board will decide if the manuscript is to be accepted, rejected or peer-reviewed based on the following criteria: field of research, scope of work, quality of language usage, adequacy of tables and figures, and observance of format. In addition, all manuscripts will be edited by native English speakers. Acceptance of the paper will depend upon its scientific merit and suitability for the journal. The reviewers’ and editor’s suggestions will be conveyed to the corresponding author (henceforth ‘the author’) without identifying the reviewers, and the author will have an opportunity for revision with full, sole responsibility. The revised manuscript must bear a sign ‘REVISED’ on top right of the title page. If a manuscript returned to the author for revision is held longer than eight weeks, the submission will be considered withdrawn, unless a previous arrangement has been made with Editor-in-Chief. If a manuscript is declined, the author has the right to appeal and should send a letter to the Editor-in- Chief presenting the reasons why the editorial decision should be reconsidered. Even after the ‘accept decision’ by Editor-in-Chief, the author may be asked to make revision regarding both editorship and scientific aspect of the manuscript overlooked during review process, if necessary, by the editorial office.

Accepted Manuscript

Following notification of manuscript acceptance, both a pdf and word processing file of the final accepted manuscript are required. The pdf and word processing file must match exactly in all parts of the manuscript. Files for tables and figures must also be included. Figure files will reproduce best if a tiff format is supplied for the figures. If you are having problems creating tiff files of the figures, please contact the managing editor.

Publication Charges

Only the accepted manuscripts either having acknowledgement or requesting express publication will be charged at 300,000 Korean won (or equivalent US dollars) per article. Electronic version will bear color without charge even if the author chooses black and white printing.

Proofs and Copyright

Galley proofs for an accepted article will be sent to the corresponding author for correction and must be returned within two working day of receipt. For the protection of the Society’s ownership and the original authors’ from misappropriations of their published work, the author agrees to a copyright transfer when the manuscript is accepted for publication. Copyright for the published papers belongs to the Society.
